Artist Statement – Candle with Books Still Life Art
This painting Candle with Books is an 60*60 cm or 23.622* 23.622 inches of oil on canvas. This painting I painted during covid time when there was complete lockdown and I had just moved to Salalah , Oman from Bahrain.
Still life paintings tell a story how the light plays with a subject and I have tried to bring the atmosphere of warmth around the subject . I personally am inspired by Rembrandt’s works and play of light on the subject. I have tried to capture the subtleness of the subject without being too loud.This subject of light falling on a subject with subtleness is one of my favourites.
